UDALGURI: The carcass of an eight-year-old female elephant was recovered from Paneri in Udalguri district today, official officials said.

The carcass was found in a drain near the workers colony of Paneri Tea Estate this morning.

The cause of the elephant's death is yet to be ascertained. So far this year, seven elephants have died and six persons lost their lives due to trampling by pachyderms in the district.
