DOHA: A three-day workshop on combating illegal wildlife trade kicked off yesterday, organized by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the Department of Protection and Wildlife.
The workshop aims to raise the efficiency of the participants from various concern bodies in the State in the implementation of measures to combat illegal trafficking in wildlife.
The workshop will include lectures on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which regulates international trade between States Parties in some species of endangered species, which Qatar joined in 2001.
The participants will also be acquainted with the types of wild animals and plants most traded in the workshop, as well as their definitions of permits, certificates and other documents used in the implementation of the Convention.
