Farmworkers on a farm in Kavango West region picked up five pieces of elephant tusks at a water point on Monday. The workers informed the police and handed over the ivory pieces.

It is not clear whether the pieces broke from elephants whilst fighting or a poacher left them there.

“A case was reported on Monday that the tusk pieces were found at 10h00 at Agrotuor farm.

The workers found the five pieces of unknown value and the police went to collect them,” said commissioner Josephat Abel of the Kavango West police. Abel said no arrest was made, as there was no suspect as yet.
