Game rangers in Zimbabwe have recovered 35 tusks from the latest elephant poisoning site at the Hwange National Park.

Some of the latest victims were juvenile elephants, whose tusks weren’t fully grown.

Zimbabwe National Parks spokeswoman, Caroline Washaya-Moyo, has told state radio that the poachers only got away with three ivory tusks.

About 35 others were recovered from the site of the latest mass cyanide poisoning, at Sinamatella, in the northern section of Hwange National Park.

The independent Bhejane Trust says investigations show that 10 kg of cyanide were brought to Hwange recently by a middleman who sold it to locals for $100.

The man is now on the run.

A total of 62 elephants in Hwange and Kariba have been poisoned with cyanide in recent weeks, and some locals are asking what they can do to stop the carnage.
