Colombo Magistrate Court today issued notice to Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage to give a statement to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of police on the allegation of possessing a baby elephant without a valid license.

The CID informed the court that Magistrate Thilina Gamage has been named as a suspect by the Attorney General in the case of allegedly possessing a baby elephant with a forged license and the CID has twice requested the magistrate to give a statement on the charge. However, the judge has not appeared before the CID to record a statement.

Therefore, the CID has requested the Colombo Magistrate to issue notice to Thilina Gamage to appear before the CID.

Accordingly, the court ordered the additional magistrate to give a statement to the CID on 25th May.
