Forest minister Ramanath Rai visited Averi Halli village near Manchanabele dam on Wednesday where 45-year-old Sidda, an injured bull elephant, is being treated.
“The minister checked on the elephant’s condition, spoke to the doctors and learned about the status” said Chief Wildlife Warden Hosmath. A team of doctors and forest officials was also present.

On November 10, with the help of Madras Engineering Group (MEG), Sidda was shifted to a temporary kraal. A doctor treating the ailing elephant said, “He is responding well to the medication. The kraal has improved blood circulation and body balance. The elephant is consuming good quantity of food as opposed to previous condition where he was lying on one side.”  However, officials do not have any plan on shifting the elephant anytime soon.
