PMO takes action on jumbo menace in Karnataka following 10-year-old girl’s complaint (India)

A 10-year-old girl Nikhita N M, a resident of Mandekolu village in Sullia taluk, who is studying in fourth standard at Gajanana English Medium School in Ishwaramangala, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking immediate measures to control elephant menace.

She informed in her letter that she and other students of her village decided not to go school till the elephant menace is controlled.  As she wrote the letter to the Prime Minister’s office on October 11, 2016, she received a positive reply on October 21, informing that her letter has been sent to the Chief Secretary of Karnataka to take immediate measures.

Forest officials visited Mandekolu village and inspected the areas.

Forest officials also reported to their senior officers about the measures that can be taken to prevent the elephant menace.
