Rogue elephant tramples two to death (Pothia Bazar, India)

 
Two people, including a woman, were trampled to death by a rogue elephant at Pothia Bazar under Pothia police station area in Katihar district today. Police said here that the rogue elephant strayed into Pothia Bazar from a nearby jungle and started roaming around. When local people tried to scare away the pachyderm, it trampled two people to death. The deceased were identified as Suman Devi (35) and Karelal Mandal (50).Forest and administrative officials have reached the spot to rein in the rogue elephant which fled away towards Naugachhia. Bodies have been sent for the post-mortem.
