Two suspects were on Monday morning arraigned before a Migori Court after being found in possession of eight pieces of elephant tusks weighing 15 kilograms and worth Ksh.1.5 million.

The accused, George Ochieng Otieno and Mary Owino Likowa, were said to be in possession of the tusks without permission from the Kenya Wildlife Services.

According to the prosecution, the two were arrested at Five Star Petrol Station by police officers who were acting on a tip off but posed as buyers.

The two denied the charges before Resident Magistrate Justice Edwin Nyaga and were released on a bond of Ksh.2 million and a surety of a similar account each.

The case was set for mentioning on May 7, 2018, before the main hearing set for June 4, 2018 at the Migori Court.
