As per a video going viral, a herd of more than 50 elephants are seen entering Odisha’s Baripada village from the neighbouring Bengal.

A video captured from a cell phone showed the tuskers crossing the road into the Nilagiri forest.

Reports said that wild elephants caused damage to paddy fields near Rasogovindapur forest range.

Last month, the Northeast Frontier Railway halted train services in Bengal’s Dooars region for six hours after receiving information about movement of elephant herds in the areas near Rajabhatkhowa station in Alipurduar district. Passenger trains and goods trains were halted at various stations to avoid any untoward incident.
