A 30-year-old elephant that was being treated by veterinarians for the past three days died on Monday morning. The elephant was found struggling to stand on its feet on May 27.

It was not able to consume food due to ulcer and had turned weak. The Forest department roped in a kumki elephant to help the ailing jumbo to stand, but the efforts proved futile.

Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Bandipur range, Anthony S Mariappa, and ACF, Hediyala range, K Paramesh visited the spot. The elephant was buried after post-mortem, said Anthony.
