A 42-year-old tea estate worker was seriously injured on Friday as he
was attacked by an elephant in Pandalur, in Nilgiris district. Muthiah
was on his way to work when he came across the lone elephant.
Though he tried to flee the area, the elephant chased and attacked
him, eventually injuring his abdomen and legs, police said.
However, the man managed to escape and the locals took him to the
government hospital in Pandalur.
He was shifted to the Gudalur Government Hospital and subsequently to
the Medical College Hospital in Coimbatore, police said.
