KOCHI:  The Forest Department investigating the elephant poaching case on Friday recovered the remnants of the carcass of an an elephant hunted down by Aikkaramattom Vasu and his team from Edamalayar forest range. With this, the total number of elephant carcass recovered from the Malayattor Forest Division has gone up to nine. According to the Edamalayar Forest Range Officer, the carcass was recovered following the confessions of accused Suku, an accused, who was earlier arrested by the forest officials.

And Suku had confessed to the officials that he along with Vasu, who allegedly committed suicide at a farmhouse in Maharashtra after the poaching came to light, and Eldose, another key accused arrested by the officials, had shot down the elephant,the carcass of which was recovered on Friday. The officials also told Express that they would interrogate the accused further to identify the spots and other details of the elephants hunted down by the gang in various parts of the state.
