Assam: Police recovers over Rs 1 cr, elephant ivory from DFO house (India)

Anti corruption wing of Assam police on Monday recovered over Rs 1 crore and huge quantity of wild animal parts from a Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) house in Guwahati and Dhemaji, officials said.

A team of anti corruption wing launched search operation at the house of DFO Mahat Chandra Talukdar near Zoo Road area in the city and the official quarter in Dhemaji.

The team recovered big cash and wild animal parts after arrested the forest officer, who allegedly taken bribe at his office.

A top official of Assam police said that, the team launched operation at the house and official quarter of the DFO of Dhemaji district after arrested the forest officer.

We have already recovered over Rs 1 crore and wild animal parts including elephant ivory from the house and official quarter of the forest official, the police official said.

The team also recovered several bank documents, ornaments and incriminating documents from the forest official house.

Search operation is still going on.

Earlier, an anti corruption team had arrested the forest official from his office, who allegedly took bribe from a person.
