Survival International denounced an operation of safari hunting of elephants in Cameroon, managed by the French billionaire Benjamin de Rothschild, which would have resulted in several violations of the rights of the local Baka “pygmies” and their neighbors. These violations include illegal evictions, assault, and torture.

Operations are located in Cameroon in two “protected areas” rented by Benjamin de Rothschild. It offers tourists the opportunity to shoot, for the sum of 55,000 Euros, a forest elephant. To create this trophy hunting operation, the Baka have been expelled from their ancestral territory.
