Elephant Attack: Tusker Tramples Two In Dhenkanal  (India)

Dhenkanal: Two persons lost their lives in an elephant attack at Icchabatipur village in Aanlabereni Section under Kamakhyanagar West Range of Dhenkanal Forest Division at 4.30 am today.

One among the deceased, Surendra Nayak, is a priest of the village temple and the other was identified as Babita Behera. While Nayak was trampled by the elephant in front of his house, Behera was attacked at a nearby field when she had gone for nature’s call.

Irate locals staged road blockade near Icchabatipur and burnt tyres at Pandua-Jiral road in the district demanding immediate warding off of the stray elephant.

Meanwhile, police personnel and forest department officials have reached the spot.
