A wild elephant calf has been rescued from near Chessa stream/Nallah on Saturday.
On being informed by the villagers of Chessa that an elephant calf was found stranded near the Chessa nallah, at team of officials of Banderdewa Forest Division rushed to the spot and rescued the baby elephant. The calf was shifted to Itanagar Zoological Park after giving first aid.
The rescue team included ACF Mito Rumi, RFO Tanga Murtem, RFO Chukhu Tania, Veterinary Officer Dr. Sorang Tadap and other forest staff.
Earlier in a similar incident, the officials of Banderdewa Forest Division rescued an elephant calf from the same area last month.
Meanwhile, DFO Banderdewa Division Neelam Nedo assured due recognition and reward to the informers of such wildlife cases.
