KOCHI: The forest department Friday arrested Manoj, a plantation owner, for helping Aikkaramattom Vasu, accused in elephant poaching and who committed suicide, to go underground. He will be produced in the court Friday evening. He was hiding in the pineapple farm of Manoj at Dodapur in Maharashtra as an employee. The investigating team has found that Vasu had contacted Manoj many times before his death.

Manoj reached Maharashtra a year before and the Keralites don’t know much about Manoj. Only when the employees of the farm were questioned, the details of Manoj were obtained. In the meanwhile, two guns were obtained from the raid conducted at Manoj’s house. It is suspected to be used for elephant poaching.
