Elephant tramples man to death at Mungulipade (India)

A 33 year old youth was killed and another youth was severely injured when a wild elephant attacked them at Mungulipade on the Kulkunda-Bisile road near Subrahmanya on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh, a resident of Hosahalli village in Hassan, and the injured has been identified as Sunil of Hassan district. Victims were going to Devigudi.

Sources in Subrahmanya police station said when Ganesh and Sunil were plying towards Devigudi on the Subrahmanya-Bisile road, an elephant confronted and then attacked them.

Though rider Sunil tried to retreat on his motorcycle when he noticed the elephant, he could not do so, as he lost control over his motorcycle.

The elephant first attacked  Sunil and then trampled Ganesh to death.

Ganesh  died on the spot. Sunil broke a leg, sources said.  Ganesh was an employee at a factory in Bengaluru and Sunil was working for a private institution at Hassan.

A case has been registered at the Subrahmanya police station.
