A Mombasa businessman charged with having massive quantities of ivory yesterday said he has been denied medical attention.

Feisal Mohamed said magistrate Benmark Ekhubi on January 27 directed that his doctor attend to him in prison, but the doctor has not been allowed to.

Lawyer Michael Oloo said Mohamed should be allowed to seek treatment at Coast Provincial General Hospital.

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Alexander Muteti said Mohamed can be attended to by his doctor, but he is apprehensive about the suspect’s admission to the hospital.
