Four men were on Monday charged with illegal possession of ivory worth Sh1.6 million.
Tito Munguti, Muema Kamuti, Joshya Mwanzia and Mashuba Ivuti denied being in possession of the two elephant tusks.
They were arrested on Sunday in Kibwezi town, Makueni county and will be remanded until Thursday as they await a pre-trial conference.
Two other men accused of illegally keeping a wild reptile at home were released on a Sh200,000 bond each.
Mwakera Mukala and Edwin Mwakera are said to have illegally confined a pangolin at Kishushe village, Makueni county.
Makindu senior resident magistrate Gerald Mutiso said the matter will be heard on October 9.
