Friends of the Asian Elephant Foundation (FAE) founder Soraida Salwala is considering legal action against people who allegedly defamed her foundation.

Soraida revealed on Sunday that some people had made slanderous comments about the FAE, which has worked hard to protect pachyderms. Soraida said in a Facebook post that she had already forwarded those comments to her legal adviser Warin Teamcharas, and Srisuwan Janya, who is also an FAE board member, for review.

“I will also raise the issue with the FAE board and chairman on March 23,” Soraida said.

The FAE drew public attention when Soraida announced on March 13 – Thai Elephants Day – that the foundation might have to end its operations because of paucity of funds. Soon after her announcement, the FAE attracted more than Bt20 million in donations.
