CHENNAI: Appropriate action was taken in compliance with the Madras High Court orders on the safe upkeep of elephants captured in Tiruvannamalai hills and put up at Mudumalai,
 
Lakshmi Narayan, TN Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden has submitted in his counter to a contempt petition.
 
The counter was filed on Monday in response to the contempt application by E Seshan of Okkiyam-Thoraipakkam, seeking to punish Narayan for not complying with the September 25, 2013 order.
 
As and when the authorities concerned feel that the elephants may be relocated in any other forest area, the same should be done without any loss of time in accordance with the relevant statutes, rules and regulations. Alleging that this order was not complied with, petitioner filed the present contempt plea.
