Wildlife officials yesterday succeeded in capturing the wild elephant which stormed into Morantenna, Nildandahinna by jumping over the electric fence around the Victoria and Randenigala forest reserve, following an operation spanning nearly five days.

The wild elephant had killed more than six villages and caused extensive damage to their harvest during the past several months.

People living in Morantenna, Theripehe and Kalanwatta who feared this wild elephant, were confined to their houses after dusk. N.M.
