A man was yesterday trampled to death by a herd of elephants at Suguroi One village in Nyambogichi location, Laikipia Central.

Peter Gitau, 40, was among villagers trying to drive away the herd.

“Eleven adults and five young aggressive elephants invaded the area and wreaked havoc destroying crops. They went as far as Wiyumiririe trading centre,” said chief Joyce Mugo.

The elephants are believed to be from Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
