Kenya: KWS Pays Four for Wildlife Attacks

FOUR Nyeri victims of wildlife attacks have been paid Sh350,000 by the Kenya Wildlife Service.
 
Jane Nyarui received a Sh200,000 cheque as compensation for the death of her son, 15-year-old Albert Kinyua, who was killed by elephants four years ago.
 
Three survivors of human-wildlife conflict were awarded Sh50,000 each.
 
The cheques were issued to the four at Nyeri county commissioner Michael Tialal’s office on Tuesday.
 
Aberdare National Park senior warden Catherine Wambani warned communities against interfering with fences erected along national park boundaries, to avoid attacks.
