A man who was found with an elephant tusk worth Sh400,000 was yesterday arraigned before a Kilgoris court.

Tobias Onyango was charged with having the 2kg tusk without a government permit at Isokon, Trans Mara.

Onyango told the court that he found the tusk in a bush and was taking it to the Kenya Wildlife Service station when he was arrested.

He denied dealing in illegal ivory trade.

Resident magistrate Monica Munyendo requested for a pre-bail report before she can set Onyango’s bail terms.

The case will be mentioned on October 24, while the hearing is set for January 20.
