Two brothers and three others charged with having the Sh576 million ivory seized in Thailand have sought release on bond. Yesterday, they urged the High Court to review a lower court’s decision to deny them bond.

Their lawyers Jared Magolo and Gikandi Nguibuini asked Justice Martin Muya to review orders issued by Mombasa chief magistrate Susan Shitubi. On Friday, Shitubi denied Abdulrahman Sheikh, Sheikh Abdulrahman, Lucy Kahoto, Jacob Lithare and Samuel Mundia bond, saying the prosecution is still investigating. Shitubi also said the five will interfere with witnesses if they are released.
