Kenya: Two Found With 12.5kg Ivory Released On Sh 1 Million Bond

Two people found with elephant tusks worth Sh1.25 million were on Tuesday released on a Sh1 Million bond each by a Kilgoris court.
 
Kateina Lolereiya and Serah Mpayeei were charged that on November 4 they were found with two tusks weighing 12.5kgs without a government permit at Olmotonyi area in Trans Mara.
 
They were also accused of dealing in wildlife trophies, charges contrary to Wildlife Conservation and Management Act 2012.
 
They denied the charges before Kilgoris Resident Magistrate Monica Munyendo. The case will be mentioned on November 10 and heard on January 29, 2015.
