TWO Vietnamese have been charged in court with having wildlife trophy.

Ngo Linh and Nguyen van Thuyen were allegedly found with two ivory necklaces each weighing 35grammes on March 16 at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The necklaces were worth Sh7,500. The two did not take a plea as there was no interpreter. The prosecution said the men were coming from Bujumbura to Nairobi on transit to Bangkok.

They were intercepted by security officers manning the screening tunnel at the airport. The two appeared before senior principal magistrate Timothy Okello. He ordered the court to provide an interpreter tomorrow.
