Residents of Kithoka Village in North Imenti, Meru County Tuesday had a rare feast of elephant meat after a jumbo was electrocuted when it tried to gain entry into a farm.

The elephant came from the Lower Imenti Forest.

The elephant’s carcass was discovered in the morning by locals in one of the farms bordering the forest.

Kenya Wildlife Service officers believe some frustrated farmers might have hurt the elephant in retaliation after damage by the jumbos to crops and the loss of life in the area.

The Imenti Forest has a high population of elephants.
