A Libyan woman was arrested on Friday after attempting to smuggle several bags of ivory through Borg Al-Arab airport in Alexandria, reported state news agency MENA.
The woman was travelling from Tobrok airport via Libyan carrier Afriqiyah Airways.
Customs officers found several plastic bags full of cylinder-shaped pieces of ivory, painted in black for camouflage, in her luggage.
The passenger was referred to the prosecution for investigation while the ivory pieces were sent for veterinary quarantine.
