Balan visited the house of Soli Varghese who was trampled to death by
an elephant, at Karakkallil in Puduparaiyaram here on Sunday.
Soli was engaged in tapping works of rubber trees adjacent to his
house on Saturday, when the jumbo attacked, killing him on the spot.
When the elephant entered the rubber plantation, local people scared
it away by making sound with utensils and the animal moved out. But
after some time the animal returned and attacked him.
The minister, who consoled the deceased man’s wife Nija and children
Sony and Joyal, handed over the financial aid sanctioned by the forest
department.
