Navy man killed in Ctg by wild elephants (Bangladesh)

A member of Bangladesh Navy was trampled to death by a herd of wild elephants on his way home from his workplace at Navy road area of the district’s Kaptai upazila on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Touhid, 40. He was at work at Shaheed Moazzem naval base of Kaptai.

Dildar Hossain, Chairman of Kaptai Upazila, confirmed the news.

Local sources said Touhid was heading home from his workplace around 10:00pm while a herd of wild elephants swooped on him, leaving him dead on the spot. Though there were many people at the spot during the attack, nobody came forward to save him. All of them fled the scene to survive.

Later, being informed, his colleagues rushed the spot and recovered the body, sources said.
