Pachyderms Trample Crops, Damage Houses (Srikakulam, India)

A herd of elephants wreaked a havoc in various villages of Hiramandalam mandal in Srikakulam district on Tuesday.

The pachyderms ventured into the village in the wee hours and trampled crop fields. The locals alleged inaction of forest authorities, despite repeated calls for help. According to sources, at around 2 am on Tuesday, the herd entered Yeguvaraguda, Eethalaguda, Komanapalle and few other villages in Hiramandalam mandal and damaged several houses. Locals played drumrolls to drive the animals away.

The forest officials reached the spot and assessed the losses.
