Tchibanga was the scene of two arrests for ivory smugglers in the night of 25 January. The booty: 43kg of ivory and three individuals in the hands of the police.
The ivory trade has experienced a setback earlier this week with the arrest of three traffickers whose identities were quickly revealed. This is Jean-Félix Mouity John Paul Ndinga Moussavou and Hugues Bourobou Koumba, all Gabonese nationals. These were sought for several weeks by the elements of Water and Forests and the Judicial Police. In one evening, rich in surprises, the three men were arrested in Ibanga in the first district of the town of Judicial Tchibanga thanks to the collaboration of Conservation Justice, an NGO involved in the fight against poaching and trafficking trophies protected species and illegal logging.
Bourobou Hughes, 34, and Jean-Paul Ndinga Moussavou, 55 were the first to be caught. It was 9:19 p.m. Monday night when trying to sell their products, the pair were arrested. They had with them two points and an ivory tail cut into four pieces and weighing 34 kg, all packaged in a bag of rice.
Confessed, Hugues Bourobou will signal the existence of a third trafficker in the person of Jean-Félix Mouity, 45. This is their supplier. During the preliminary hearing, the three men admitted the facts before being placed in custody for further proceedings.
