Police have narrowed the list of suspects behind the smuggling of three tonnes of ivory seized in Thailand last month.

The 511 elephant tusks, worth Sh575 million were bound for Laos.

They were seized in Chonburi province, eastern Thailand.

Environment Cabinet Secretary Judi Wakhungu said they have identified those involved in clearing and transporting the consignment.

“We have to verify the information before making announcements,” she said in Mombasa town yesterday.
