The incident took place when the victim identified as Ramsharan Mishra was sitting with his group of friends and spotted three elephants moving around in the area. Mishra, who was in an inebriated state, tried to drive away the elephants. When a team of 40 forest guards were trying to give way to a herd of tuskers towards neighbouring Korba forest region recently, all the villagers surrounded them out of curiosity.
