Wild elephant captured, shifted to Dubare for taming (India)

As many as four wild elephants were roaming in Chettalli area for the past few days, attacking people and damaging standing crops. Following complaints by the villagers, the state chief conservator of forests has ordered for capturing of the elephants.

The forest staff, who started the operation on Saturday morning, captured one elephant on Sunday morning. As many as six elephants from Dubare camp helped the forest staff in the operation. Forest officials Edukondalu, M M Jaya, M S Chinnappa and others led the operation.

A forest official said that one of the elephants turned violent and tried to attack the staff during the operation. However, wildlife expert Dr Umashankar tranquillized the elephant.

The elephant was later shifted to Dubare elephant camp for taming.
