Yet another incident of man-animal conflict surfaced on Sunday when a wild elephant attacked and killed a middle-aged man in Alipurdaur district of Bengal on Sunday.

According to reports, a 39-year-old man was attacked by an elephant in northern West Bengal on Sunday morning.
The man identified as Kishore Rai was killed by a wild elephant in Uttar Khaerbari of Alipurduar district’s Madarihat.
Infuriated by the frequent incidents of elephant attacks leading to death of villagers, angry locals put up a road blockade from Totopara to Madarihat in protest.
However, the blockade was withdrawn when the forest department paid a part of the compensation to the family of the deceased.
Earlier on Friday a man was killed by a wild elephant in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal.
Meanwhile, an adult elephant was found dead on Sunday by forest staff in Nagrakata forest of Jalpaiguri district.
According to the local people, the elephant’s body was lying at the spot in Tondu Goth under Central Diana Range for the past three days but no official from the state forest department came to ascertain the cause of pachyderm’s death.
However, a senior forest official said that the body of the dead elephant had no injury or bullet mark and also its tusks were intact, said the official.
Though the post-mortem of the elephant was carried out but the exact cause of its death could not be ascertained, added the official.
