Wild elephant kills youth in Nilgiri (India)

A youth was chased and killed by a wild elephant near Cherambadi in Nilgiri on Thursday

Anish Abraham, 28, who worked as an electrician at a local tea factory, was on his way to work at around 6.30am when the wild tusker ran into his path.

He left his bike and tried to flee on foot but the elephant chased and crushed him. Locals gathered and chased the elephant away but Anish, who suffered serious injuries to his head and spine, died on the spot.

The funeral will be held at the St Peter and St Paul School church in Kolapally at 10 am on Friday.

Anish was the fourth person killed by an elephant here in as many months.
