Wildlife articles seized from bizman’s house in Kochi (India)

KOCHI: Wildlife articles including ivory, deer horn and sandalwood have been seized during a raid at a businessman’s house in the city, forest officials said here today.

The raid was conducted by a team of officials from forest squad and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau last night.

In their joint operation, they also found around 50 Indian made foreign liquor bottles from the house. It was handed over to state Excise Department, officials said.

Owner of the house, Manish Kumar Gupta, was not in the house during the raid.

The ivory was said to be the tusks of a captive elephant which died some years ago.

The officials said Gupta did not possess any valid documents for keeping such articles at his home.
