Nelson Mwangi

Nelson Mwangi tracks the movements of over 400 collared elephants across Africa. Tracking elephants helps us map out their needs in an increasingly fragmented ecosystem, which is crucial to their survival. Having joined Save the Elephants as an intern in 2016, Nelson – a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) specialist – has steadily risen through the ranks and is the ‘guardian’ of STE’s tracking app. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Ecology at Colorado State University.
